Philodendron plowmanii is another undescribed species with a creeping habit.
Philodendron plowmanii is sometimes confused with Philodendron mamei , but Philodendron plowmanii has a unique leaf shape and is from Ecuador and Peru.
Philodendron plowmanii is a ground-dwelling aroid (cold plant). The stem and plant creep along the ground instead of climbing a tree. The leaves grow to about 30 cm long and have beautiful contrasting veins.
Care.
If you want your Philodendron plowmanii to grow large leaves, you should plant it horizontally in a tall planter . Each new node will send down new roots, making the root system stronger and the leaves larger.
If you plan to repot in an oblong pot, the leaves will look a little odd for a while, but they will eventually reorient themselves. It is generally an easy-care indoor plant as long as you make sure it gets enough light and nutrition . However, be vigilant about protecting the plant from the absolute strongest summer sun.
A well-drained soil mix like our peat-free soil mix is good. Let the soil dry out between waterings.
Botanical description.
Philodendron plowmanii will soon receive its scientific description by aroid botanist Dr. Thomas B. Croat. The plant will be named in memory of the late botanist Timothy Charles Plowman (1944–1989). This as-yet-undescribed species comes from Peru and Ecuador.

Appearance.
Along the stem are nodes , the stems that support the leaf blades, and the roots grow from these nodes. In the case of Philodendron plowmanii, the internodes are short (the space between two nodes on the stem), which means that the nodes are tightly packed together. The leaves are glossy on the upper side and slightly shiny . Buy Philodendron plowmanii online!
