Our peat free potting mix is designed for the needs of our tropical houseplants
This peat free potting soil is a great potting medium for plants that grow in the ground. Its a well drained potting mix, especially suited for houseplants.
Contents
Perlite, finely ground coconut fiber, worm castings, symbiotic Mycorrhiza as well Trichoderma harzianum fungi
The added Mycorrhizal fungi live in symbiosis with the root system. Mycorrhiza promote root development and the absorption of nutrients and provides protection against diseases and pests.
We also add Trichoderma spp. which lives in symbiosis with the plant and makes a truly living soil.
Why is peat bad for the climate?
Peat has traditionally been used in types of potting soil, but its use has a significant negative impact on the climate. Peat consists of partially decomposed plant material that accumulates in wetlands over thousands of years. When peat is mined for use in potting soil, large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) that were previously tied up in the peat layers are released. This contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming
