Read about Aglaonema
Aglaonema, the low light houseplant.
You may have heard of Aglaonema. It's a really unique tropical plant that doesn't require much other than a room to stand in. It originally comes from Southeast Asia, where it likes to hang out in shady, moist environments. Here at home, it also thrives well in similar environments. Aglaonema is particularly suitable if you are looking for an air purifying plant that is not too demanding.
Aglaonema is in general a popular houseplant that is both easy to care for and attractive. It has large, beautiful leaves and comes in several different varieties, from green, red, purple, pink & you name it, to those with silvery leaves. Perhaps best of all, it's also a drought tolerant plant, making it a perfect candidate if you don't always remember to water. The silver calla is also a plant that does not need strong light, which means that it can be placed in places that are not otherwise suitable for green houseplants.
Silver calla: Grooming
The silver calla loves to be in rooms where it is bright, but does not like to stand in direct sunlight. Perfectly suited for places where the light is not the strongest. If you have a room with a little less light, such as a bathroom, hall or corridor, this plant is a very suitable choice. This plant is also really picky when it comes to light levels, Aglaonema does well in most places.
Silver Kallan is also a drought tolerant plant, but water when the soil feels dry. It likes to dry up between waterings, unless it is sunny and warm. If you want to take cuttings, simply cut off a piece from the stem and root it in water or sphagnum moss. Keep the cutting in a bright area (but not direct sun), and it will start to root within a couple of weeks.
- Aglaonema Commutatum – This variety has a green-silver pattern and is a real classic.
- Aglaonema Pink valentine – This one has a nice red tone and looks really cool.
- Aglaonema Pictum tricolor - Almost unthinkable that it is not a hybrid but occurs completely naturally with camouflage patterns
If you are looking for an air purifying plant that is easy to care for and can stand in shady corners - and you may not always remember to water, then Aglaonema is a perfect plant for you. It is not only beautiful, but also durable and does well as both a smaller and larger indoor plant. And if you're thinking of buying plants online, then you can't go wrong with a silver calla you can order one directly from us.
