The arrowhead vine is a cold-resistant plant species from Latin America but is cultivated and has also been introduced to several other ecosystems around the world. The most common species as a green houseplant is Syngonium podophyllum. Although this variety is often referred to as 'syngonium' in our plant circles. In Latin, podophyllum means 'with foot-like leaves'.

Syngonium grows as a climber and has aerial roots that anchor its stems to the nearest support. The arrowhead vine should therefore be grown with a support for best results.
