The leaf patterns resemble those of a rattlesnake.
Calathea lancifolia is known for its daily movements. The leaves open in the morning to capture light and close in the evening, like a prayer. This phenomenon, called nyctynasty, gives a lively feel and makes the marble leaf a fascinating addition.
Botanical description.
Calathea lancifolia comes from Brazil in the Rio de Janeiro region.
Appearance.
The leaves of Calathea lancifolia are long, narrow and wavy with a light green base color decorated with dark green oval spots. The underside of the leaves is a deep purple color, which provides a stunning contrast.
It grows upright and compact, making it suitable for indoor cultivation. It can reach a height of up to 60-75 cm, making it an impressive but manageable houseplant.
Care.
Use a well-draining soil mix that is rich in organic matter, such as our peat-free soil. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid letting it stand in water. Calathea Lancifolia thrives best in bright, indirect light. Buy Calathea lancifolia online!
