Salak, the fruit harvested from this fast growing palm is also known as snake fruit in English.

This fruit, which comes from the Salacca genus, is popular in Southeast Asia and has begun to gain attention worldwide thanks to its special sweet-sour taste. The salak's shell is covered in small, shiny, scale-like segments that give it its characteristic snakeskin-like appearance.

Care: Salak palms thrive best in partial shade to full sunlight. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid standing water. Use a well-draining, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter, our peat-free soil is ideal. Salak thrives in warm, tropical climates with temperatures between 25-30°C. The plant is sensitive to frost and should be kept at temperatures above 15°C. We therefore recommend keeping the plant indoors in a sunny window.
